Corporate Investigations

When an allegation surfaces inside an organization, the quality of the first week determines what options remain in the months that follow.

Licensing status. Wisconsin regulates private investigation services through the Department of Safety and Professional Services. Fenwick Advisory Group has individual and agency licensure in process. This page describes the firm's methodology and areas of capability. Services requiring an active license are not offered until licensure is issued, at which point license numbers will appear here and in the site footer.

Areas of capability

The firm's investigative work is corporate in nature. It supports employers, counsel, and leadership teams that need facts established carefully enough to act on:

  • Internal matters involving fraud, theft, misconduct, harassment claims, and policy violations
  • Workplace threat and violence related matters
  • Litigation support and fact development for counsel

How the work is conducted

Engagements are quiet. The objective is to establish what happened without disturbing the operation, alerting a subject prematurely, or creating a record that complicates the organization's position later.

Fact and inference are kept separate in every report. What is established is stated as established, what is indicated is stated as indicated, and the basis for each is documented. Counsel can rely on that distinction, and so can a board.

Working with HR, legal, and leadership

Most matters involve a general counsel or outside attorney, an HR director, and an executive sponsor, each with different obligations. Fenwick coordinates with all three while maintaining confidentiality boundaries and, where privilege applies, working under the direction of counsel so that work product is positioned correctly from the start.

Reporting is timed to the decisions the organization has to make, not to a billing cycle.

Discuss a matter confidentially.

Initial call is confidential. It establishes what response is appropriate and whether Fenwick should take the matter.
